On the development of China's lighting industry

The world’s biggest lighting & LED exhibition, the 19th Guangzhou International Lighting Fair(hereinafter referred to as the Guangya Fair) held in China Import & Export Commodity Trading Exhibition Hall officially wrapped up on June 12. The fair drew 2621 domestic and overseas lighting brands with a 220,000 m2 exhibition area stretching over 21 halls in Pazhou.

The Guangya Fair has become the wind vane of the development of lighting industry. Top-notch lighting products and solutions collectively show up in this every June. New products, new technology and new ideas are the most clearly seen on the product & booth designs, communications, and every single detail in this lighting party.

Gone through the pioneering year of 2013 featuring a big revolution on products, technology and sales patterns, what surprises will the lighting industry bring to us in the very year of 2014?

Latest achievements were demonstrated in this annual lighting carnival. The bright industry is marching forward under the chemical idea- interaction between all the lighting corporations. The Lighting Weekly visited the delicately decorated booths and shared a talk in depth with representatives from various companies, from which we extracted the following key words related to development.

Key word 1 : Chinese Brand

“There is some certain country that produces 30% of the capacitors worldwide but takes up 70% of the sales amount, to which China’s situation is exactly the opposite. We can see that upgrading brand’s additional value is an urgent task. I see the day in near future when Chinese brands take high-ranked positions worldwide. Aihua’s goal is to make the best capacitors in the world.”

Mainly recommended products: aluminum electrolytic capacitors

Established in 1985, Hunan Aihua Group Co., Ltd is a technologic corporation focusing on the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of aluminum electrolytic capacitors as well as the production of electrode foils and machinery with staff of 3000+. On this Guangya Fair, Lighting Weekly had a conversation in depth with Wang Anan, CEO of Hunan Aihua Group Co., Ltd. The Aihua Group shared with us many insightful opinions on “Chinese brand”, “solutions and service” and operation philosophy.

Wang Anan said that currently in the global capacitor market, there is some certain country that produces 30% of the capacitors worldwide but takes up 70% of the sales amount, to which China’s situation is exactly the opposite. For the capacitor manufactures in China, upgrading the brand’s additional value is urgent. “ It is achievable for us Chinese enterprises to strengthen our technology and quality stability to the first-class level worldwide, and the key lies in the detail.” Wang Anan reckons that detailed management is the crucial element to build a world first-class Chinese brand. An organic system requires an active interaction between the five elements of person, machine, material, method and environment. “Your products will be the best if you make the best out of those five elements. We want our products’ quality stability to be the best in the world and never allow flawed products to flow into the market.”

“I see the day in the near future when Chinese capacitor brands take high-ranked positions worldwide. Aihua’s goal is to make the best capacitors in the world,” It’s this kind of national and corporate responsibility that has always encouraged the Aihua Group to focus on every detail and strive to provide aluminum electrolytic capacitors to the world with excellent performance. Wang Anan said, “what’s so called a corporation’s social responsibility is not only to be philanthropic and help the weak since that’s an instinct, first of all it should be to protect the environment and not waste resources to produce poor quality products.

Under the principal of “sincere cooperation to achieve the win-win”, by now Aihua dominates around half of China’s capacitor market. Apart from products that keep up with the trend, Aihua’s strengths also include the service that beats the rhythm of the industry pulse. As Wang Anan said, “we sell not only products but also solutions and service.” In the lighting industry, some manufacturers are producing capacitors that may not be well fit with the applications. What Aihua does is to conduct careful analysis on the lighting product’s circuit drawing, submit appropriate solutions to the lighting manufactures for verification and help them to decide the lighting product’s service life. “As long as the lighting manufacturer informs us of the service life requirement, we’ll assist them by providing the most suitable capacitors and help them optimize their lighting products to the best, from which products with the best cost performance can be obtained.”

Speaking of Aihua’s goal and future plans, Wang Anan pointed out that currently the supply of miniaturized and low capacitance capacitors falls short of demand. “Some manufacturers don’t make that kind of capacitors due to the deficit, but Aihua is doing exactly the opposite. We provide one-stop service with products of high voltage as well as low voltage, so the lighting manufacturers have no need to find other capacitor suppliers. Consequently we’ll focus on the overall supporting service and quick-reaction. We commit to the clients that our longest delivery time will not exceed two weeks.”

From what we know, Aihua’s sales amount has exceeded 1.2 billion RMB by 2013 with an annual production capacity of 3.8 billion capacitors speaking of only the lighting application. And that number will reach to 8 billion in 2014 to satisfy the prompt deliveries and quick-reaction.

In the fair, Aihua demonstrated their miniaturized driving capacitors that can be directly installed in the lamp cap as well as the pencil-type capacitors for frame lamps and panel lights. “Miniaturization is absolutely a trend,” said Wang Anan.
